FALL 2026 - Tech Lounge Student Technician
Description:
The Tech Lounge Student Technicians are the first point of contact when a member of the college community comes to the Tech Lounge for technical assistance. In addition, they also help monitor the public labs on campus.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a positive customer experience for technology support
- Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve problems with college-owned computers, in addition helping with personally owned student computers and devices brought to the Tech Lounge.
- Assist students in identifying/ installing software provided by the college
- Check printers in public labs to ensure they have adequate levels of paper and toner, Replace/ replenish public printer supplies when low
- Check computers in public labs to ensure they are working properly, in addition to troubleshooting/ resolving any issues that occur. Report any issues that you are unable to resolve on your own.
- Collaborate with User Services professional staff on ITS-related projects as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Experience
No experience is required as on-the-job training is provided. Experience in IT and/or customer service is preferred. Tech Lounge Student Technicians are expected to respect IT security and confidentiality requirements.
This position requires the ability to work flexible hours around your class schedule, with evening hours available during the week and on Sundays.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Occasional manual dexterity
- Occasional stooping, crouching, and bending
- The ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds unless a physical limitation would prohibit this requirement.
Rate of Pay/ Hours
$9.25 per hour, with opportunities for raises available. Student Techs generally work 4-6 hours per week during the academic year..
