FALL 2023 / SPRING 2024 - Office of Sustainability Eco Rep Coordinator

Overview
Thank you for your interest in working with the Office of Sustainability! In 2019, Lafayette adopted its second Climate Action Plan, committing to carbon neutrality before or by 2035. Interns with the Office of Sustainability help support this goal through programming, outreach, metrics, research, communications, the Eco Reps Leadership Program, and composting. 

Eco Rep Coordinator (hiring 1)
Eco Reps are peer-to-peer sustainability leaders in residence halls, greek houses and off-campus houses throughout campus. Eco Reps educate residents and help foster sustainable habits and life-long behavior change in Lafayette’s living communities that also contribute to our campus goals. Eco Rep Coordinators manage the implementation of this Eco Reps Leadership Program through educational program development, operational assessments, and campus-wide events. This position is paid a starting wage of $9/hour.

Team Responsibilities: 
  • Recruit and identify members in each residence hall, greek house, and off-campus house to represent and engage each living structure
  • Plan and manage Eco Rep engagement in residences through individual outreach initiatives
  • Support residential-based operational success by collecting information about waste receptacles, water and energy usage, and innovation in living spaces
  • Develop educational curriculum and resources for Eco Reps and RAs
  • Implement and run the Sustainable Living Certificate 
  • Manage bi-weekly meetings with Eco Reps including educational training, initiative planning and campus event development
  • Support the execution of campus-wide events, including Fall Training (August), Green Move In (August), Sustainability Month Event (October), Game Day Football Challenge (October/November), Green Move Out (December), Game Day Basketball Challenge (February), Earth Month (April), EarthFest (April), and Green Move Out (May).
  • Attend weekly staff and coordinator meetings as well as bi-weekly Eco Reps meetings

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Prior experience working as an Eco Rep or with Residence Life
  • Experience managing others or working with teams towards a common goal
  • Experience developing programming and educational events 
  • Strong organizational and personal skills

Time Commitment:
Eco Rep Coordinators will be expected to work 4-10 hours per week commencing in August 2023.
