FALL 2023 / SPRING 2024 - Office of Sustainability Metrics and Reporting Intern

Overview
Thank you for your interest in working with the Office of Sustainability! In 2019, Lafayette adopted its second Climate Action Plan, committing to carbon neutrality before or by 2035. Interns with the Office of Sustainability help support this goal through programming, outreach, metrics, research, communications, the Eco Reps Leadership Program, and composting. 

Metrics and Reporting Intern (3)
Support carbon neutrality and sustainability efforts through tracking and assessment of our current emissions, utility consumption, procurement, and more. Measure the impacts of new or revised sustainability-oriented programs and initiatives on campus, including Green Labs, Greening Athletics, and sustainable food loop efforts. This position is paid a starting wage of $9/hour.

Responsibilities: 
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment and Rating System report (STARS), food and materials procurement and other relevant sustainability metrics
  • Collect and input data into tracking mechanisms for annual sustainability reports
  • Track sustainability students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents to grow community
  • Prepare graphs, tables and presentations that summarize and highlight data 
  • Compile data into year-end summaries for campus departments and reporting organizations
  • Attend weekly staff and bi-weekly metrics and reporting team meetings
  • Support broader Office of Sustainability initiatives through participation at key events and living as a sustainability ambassador on campus

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Be data-oriented- seeing the opportunity to gather strategic metrics for initiatives, programs, and projects
  • Strong attention to detail and determination to complete detailed projects
  • Experience or interest to learn Microsoft Excel

Time Commitment:
Metrics and Reporting Interns will be expected to work 4-10 hours per week commencing in August 2023.
