2024 Training the Street Program

Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm

NOTE: Through the generosity of  Modera Wealth Management and in conjunction with the Gateway Career Center, this seminar is being offered at no cost to you. This is a highly tailored finance immersion program normally offered only to Wall Street professionals. Please know that attendance is limited and mandatory. If you sign up for the program and do not show up for the workshop, you will be charged $200. If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact the Gateway Career Center prior to applying. 

 

OBJECTIVE OF THE WORKSHOP

The main goal of the bootcamp is to assist students seeking employment in the field of finance. Through practical examples and exercises, the program illustrates the fundamentals of popular valuation and modeling techniques used by finance professionals.

TARGET AUDIENCE 

The seminar is designed to be an essential foundation for a wide variety of students interested in:

•     Working in the financial services industry (investment banking, consulting, financial planning and analysis, private equity, entrepreneurs, corporate finance, hedge funds, marketing and operations, business development, research, venture capital, and strategy.

•     Working in the corporate/strategic development or finance group of a corporation

•     Working in marketing, brand management or operations for a corporation and being responsible for a product or divisional budget, projections and profit/loss statement

•     Enhancing the learning in finance and financial statement analysis classes

•     Non-finance roles, but interested in gaining a solid foundation in applied corporate finance

**There will be an option to have access to the course materials online throughout the summer. Information on signing up to receive and access the materials will be available upon completion of the seminar series. 

SESSION OVERVIEW

Through practical examples and real-world exercises, the Finance Immersion workshop illustrates the fundamentals of popular Valuation and Financial Modeling techniques used by finance practitioners.

Key valuation topics include: Overview of valuation methodologies, Discounted cash flow analysis, Public comparables analysis, Imputing valuation ranges, Acquisition comparables analysis, and Critical valuation concepts (EBITDA, Enterprise value, WACC etc.).

Key financial modeling topics include: Excel best practices and efficiency tips.

Financial modeling essentials including appropriate color schemes, key operating profit line items, key cash flow items statement (working capital, capital expenditures, depreciation, etc.), and discounted cash flow modeling.

 

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Included is access to our online Self-Study course with 10+ hours on Corporate Valuation that you can review anytime and on any device. You’ll also find additional topics in the Self-Study such as: DCF modeling, and Life cycle of a transaction.

 

PREREQUISITES

Each participant will need a computer with Microsoft Excel and the needed files/handouts. Virtual participants need Internet access and Zoom. There are no prerequisites for this workshop, however, possessing prior accounting, and Excel knowledge will help.
