Coding for Web Track Global Career Accelerator
With more and more aspects of daily life shifting online, web developers and coders are in higher demand than ever before. Companies everywhere need developers who understand cultural and geographic nuances, and are capable of collaborating across differences. This program will help students develop the technical and intercultural skills needed to succeed in our interconnected, tech-driven world.
The Coding for Web Program starts on May 27, 2024 and concludes on August 4, 2024.

Application Information: You MUST apply through Handshake. All applications will be reviewed and students notified of their acceptance to the program.
Applications must include a Resume and and essay with your answer to the following question:
Question: What is one thing you would like to learn by taking global tech program course?
PROGRAM DETAILS:
- Students from all backgrounds are welcome.
- There are no tests and all work is open-world, just like the real world.
- Lectures are flexible and will take place online.
- You will then attend virtual live discussions, Live Labs, with your classmates and instructor each week.
- Your time commitment: Roughly 10 hours per week over 10 weeks.
Program Schedule
LIVE LABS: (participation required)
- Wednesday and Friday from 4pm - 5:30pm EST
OR
- Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm-8:30 EST
Accepted participants will be asked to select which Live Lab session they want to attend. You will be expected to attend that Live Lab time through the completion of the program (attendance is taken).
NOTE: Through the generosity of the Marquis Parents' Council and in conjunction with the Dyer Center and the Gateway Career Center, this bootcamp is being offered at NO COST to you. (Cost of bootcamp is $1500 per student)
**If you are accepted for the program, full participation in the 10-week bootcamp is expected. If you do NOT complete the bootcamp in its entirety, you will be charged $200

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
COURSE 1: INTRO TO RESPONSIVE WEB DEVELOPMENT WITH HTML and CSS
Coders and Web developers create seamless websites and web apps people love. In this course, students of all majors and backgrounds will develop foundational web development skills that open doors to impactful, high-paying careers. These skills will be demonstrated through hands-on projects, as students build industry-ready portfolios by creating professional-looking websites, aplying UI/UX best practices, and utilizing leading web technologies.
After this course, you’ll:
- Learn HTML, CSS and Bootstrap frameworks.
- Create beautiful mobile and desktop experiences using UI/UX best practices.
- Gain experience with intercultural training used by the UN
- Receive an HTML and CSS certification for your resume and badge for LinkedIn.
COURSE 2: WEB DEVELOPMENT WITH JAVASCRIPT & APIS
Students will be introduced to JavaScript, the coding language known as “the language of the web,” and other leading technologies such as application programming interfaces (APIs).
After this course, you’ll:
- Accelerate your career with in-demand coding skills.
- Enhance your portfolio by building front end web apps using JavaScript.
- Gain experience with intercultural training used by the UN
- Receive a JavaScript and Web Development certification for your resume and badge for LinkedIn.
